New compliant coatings.Waterborne,Hybrid & High Solids Paints were produced so today's Painter & Decorator and our Customers are spoilt if not confused for choice like never before. When Lead Paints were removed from general sale Technology responded with all manner of coatings, acrylic and vinyl-based systems and polyester products which led to Traditional alkyd paints.Then!! on our own bad working practice,Lack of Product Knowledge and just cutting corners to get the job done. It does not take into account the end users skill or ability to apply the said coatings.When a product is Hailed as the new ,must have, we shout it out for all to hear.also when a product fails we do the same.But!! are we really giving a true balanced view or our we blaming failures. without the end user having little or no real knowledge of the substrate or product it is being applied to.Ī forum review or accolade can endorse or dismiss a products ability to perform or to fail. Since being on the forum I have read so many differing views on various Paints products and there ability to do this and that. should in theory be checked, the fact it feels dry is not enough. the highest reason for paint film failure is moisture, before effecting timber repairs moisture levels should be checked, painting new or old plaster in fact any substrate you are likely to apply a coating or surface finish. it would be good to think most do but i doubt it. I wonder how many members of the forum own, or have used a Moisture Meter in conjunction with there everyday job. ![]()
